Committee Vacancies and Re-elections

Research Committee

The role of the ICG Research Committee is, amongst other things;

  • To ensure that the role of research in professional practice, policy, training and development within the guidance community is actively promoted by the Institute
  • To ensure that the profile of research theory and practice is raised within Institute's Council, Committees, conferences and events
  • To identify training needs and solutions in the sector and feedback to the Institute through the Key Adviser.
  • To support members interested in research
  • To be the judging committee for the Research category of the Institute's National Career Awards

A vacancy has arisen on the Research Committee and Members are encouraged to submit a written letter of application. A more detailed description of the role of the Committee including the nomination procedure can be requested from Paul Hebron on 01384 445624 or

Members wishing to have an informal discussion with the Chairs of the Committee about the role can arrange this through Paul Hebron.

Ethcis and Standards Committee

The ICG Ethics and Standards Committee is responsible for:

  • Developing, Disseminating and Promoting the Code of Ethics
  • Ruling on Non-Standard Membership Applications
  • Disciplinary Matters
  • Appeals against assessment decisions
  • Admissions to the Register of Guidance Practitioners
  • Advising Council on any matters for which ethical standards of practice may be an issue.

Having met the criteria the following Members have applied for membership of Ethics and Standards Committee;

  • Maria McCrea - new appointment
  • Judith Done -- new appointment
  • Tom Evans -- re-appointment
  • Colin Marsh -- re-appointment
  • Sue Mairis -- re-appointment
  • Sarah James -- re-appointment

In accordance with the Ethics and Standards Committee Bye-Law, the membership is now asked whether there may be any objections to the above nominations.

Any objections, with clearly laid out reasons for any objections, should be submitted, in writing and in confidence, to Monica I Lemecha, Honorary Secretary at ICG HQ marked 'Private and Confidential' by : 31 MARCH 2008
