ICG Research Conference "Getting into careers research."
Postponed Additional information TBC
Research is essential in the careers world. It takes many different forms and includes everything from research into client needs and characteristics and research into effective practice, to research into occupations, training, labour markets etc. At a minimum level, professionals in any field should be reading and using recent research findings to inform and develop their practice.
To be valid, research does not have to be grand in design or something only undertaken by a university or national research organisation. There is a valid middle path between this and the day-to-day pressures of service delivery that can be bridged by practitioners becoming involved in small-scale research, engaging with and questioning research findings, and drawing academic researchers into their field to tackle real-life problems.
This one-day conference will explore the meaning of research in a careers context; introduce key concepts about research activity, including how to access and use research and will actively encourage you to get involved with research - at any level.
Target audience
Career guidance practitioners working with the young people and/or adults, and in any sector.
