Eligibility and criteria for entry
All practising members of the Institute are entitled to apply for entry to the Register, which is renewable on an annual basis. Successful entry is only accorded to current practitioners who achieve a defined level of qualification and demonstrate an ongoing commitment to CPD and subscribe to the ICG Code of Ethics. A list of approved qualifications in advice and guidance is provided in Appendix 1. Members offering qualifications not appearing on the list will have their applications considered by the Institute's Professional Development Committee to determine appropriateness.
Details of the expected standards and criteria for defining ' currently practising' and 'commitment to CPD' are also included in Appendix 1.
Categories of membership of the Register
Within this broad arrangement there are two categories of membership of the ICG Register to reflect the range of job roles within the field of career guidance.
The two categories are Advanced Practitioner and Practitioner:

Equates to NVQ L4 or above in qualifications approved by the Institute
