ICG Private Practitioners Community

This community is for you if you work as a private practitioner. There are lots of benefits to working independently but we can feel a bit isolated - no colleagues to discuss particular situations with or to help us find the answer to a particular client issue.

I've been asked to head up this community as I have been self employed for over 9 years with a successful practice since 2005. I'm Denise Taylor, Registered Guidance Practitioner and Chartered Occupational Psychologist and my company is called Amazing People Denise Taylor

Who is it for?

This community is for career guidance practitioners who work in private practice both in a full time and part time capacity. Many of us start to build a private practice alongside a salaried job and if that describes you, you are most welcome.

What will you gain?

This community is developing to meet the needs of members so this is just a suggestion of what we can do

  • A community where you get to meet and chat and learn from others and lose the feeling of isolation
  • An online discussion forum on a variety of subjects so you can post your query and get advice from other members
  • Share ideas and good practice - suggest new exercises and get feedback as other members try them out
  • An information source - I'd love us to have links to the most useful online resources, not just a list but a short explanation, and maybe we could also vote on which are most valuable
  • The chance to get relevant training to suit our needs
  • A chance to have a buddy for joint support

Where will it exist?

Both on line and also we can meet in person, we just need to organise something we would want to go to.

What's the plan over the next 6 months?

Firstly to sign up if this interests you. We can get the discussion forum up quite quickly. One of the threads can be on what we want to get out of this community - can we get a shared vision? There is already a community of interest for HE advisors, so we can learn from them and also create a community that we are proud to belong to.
