The Institute of Career Guidance is the largest and most influential professional association for careers practitioners in the UK, representing more than 4,000 members from across all four home countries, and within all areas of the sector - from schools and colleges to higher education, adult guidance, the voluntary sector and the private sector.

Our members are careers advisers, careers co-ordinators, personal advisers, IAG workers, careers consultants and coaches, team leaders, managers, chief executives, students and researchers. The Institute celebrates the diversity of its membership, recognising the importance of sharing good practice from across the sector.
The Officers of the Institute, like all our members, believe in the benefits that careers education and guidance bring to our society and the economy. That's why the ICG can be found at the forefront of political debates around career guidance, lobbying hard on behalf of members, and championing the value of effective and impartial careers education, information, advice and guidance.
There is a role for everyone to play in the Institute, such as:
- becoming a member on the National Council
- sitting on an ICG Committee
- taking an active part in a community of interest
- supporting your local regional events
- responding to the issues of the day, by replying to news items in your weekly email
- contributing to surveys
- writing in to Career Guidance Today magazine
The Institute urges all members to get involved; together we can make a difference.
