ICG meet Liberal Democrat Shadow Secretary of State on the day they announce alternative education bill that would offer an independent personal career adviser to help every student build their own timetable, at one or more local schools, colleges or work-based learning providers.

The Department for Education and Skills (DfES) are running a consultative workshop on the interim findings of the IAG Review on March 3 and the Institute of Career Guidance have been allocated 3 places.

The ICG has recommended Gordon Kirk, a member of council, to join the working group developing the new IT Diploma. Under development by 'e-skills UK', the sector skills council for IT, Telecoms and Contact Centres, the Diploma will be available in pilot form from 2008 alongside 4 other sector related Diplomas.

The Institute recently wrote to the Prime Minister to bring to his attention to some key points regarding the future of Careers Education and Guidance.

The ICG has been working with colleagues in AGCAS and the Engineering Training Board to establish better links between career guidance practitioners and major engineering employers.
