In January 2006, work on revising the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) levels was completed.  The NQF helps learners make informed decisions about the qualifications they want to achieve.  It also helps employers to compare the levels of different qualifications and determine staff's qualification needs.

Graduates would be more employable and more effective in their jobs if they had extra life skills, says management development specialists KT Associates.

Nicol Stephen, the Deputy First Minister and Minister for Enterprise and Lifelong Learning, yesterday delivered his statement announcing the Scottish Executive's decision to separate Careers Scotland from the Scottish Enterprise and Highlands and Islands Network.

This national Review will shortly be moving from its Research and Analysis phase to the next stage - Strategic Direction. The Institute was recently represented at a consultation event by Michael Howard (Honorary Treasurer) and Andrea Allgood (Council Member).

The Institute this week wrote to the Chancellor Gordon Brown MP, in response to announcements in the budget to invest in the future learning opportunities for young people up to the age of 25 who will receive free tuition to study up to level 3.
