The Institute of Career Guidance have now agreed an extension to their contract with Independent Educational Publishing to produce Career Guidance Today until December 2008.

The Institute of Career Guidance (ICG) has endorsed the Benchmark Statements produced by Careers Scotland for a Professional Qualification in Career Planning in Scotland .

The career guidance sector in the UK is often accused of being fragmented and in recent years the ICG has been working to bring about more collaboration. Examples have included the 'manifesto' produced by the Picton Group and the event earlier this year which brought together all the organisations involved in career guidance throughout the UK, again largely at the instigation of the ICG.

In recent months a number of members have expressed their concerns over the impact on career education and guidance of the workforce changes in schools. In order to establish the national picture we are working to support colleagues in ACEG with a survey.
