I (Mario Kyriacou) attended the BSA conference in Telford to represent the Institute as ICG member Colin Marsh requested our input. As the link Council Representative for the BSA, I was asked if I could attend.

Communities Secretary, Ruth Kelly announced in September that national education standard in schools, to make girls aware of non-traditional career opportunities. This will come into force from April 2007 to ensure 'all young people receive careers information, advice and guidance which is free from gender stereotyping'.

Two thirds of undergraduates wish they had received better careers and course advice at school, according to a survey marking the new university year.

The Scottish Executive's consultation on proposed changes to Careers Scotland included a number of focus groups with organisations invited to take part in the consultation process. The Institute of Career Guidance was invited to meet with representatives of Scottish Executive on Monday 21 August 2006.

I attended the DfES Consultation workshop - for the Young People's IAG Quality Standards. This included 80 stakeholders including Connexions partnerships, UCAS, QCA, OFSTED and ACEG alongside DfES staff.
