On Tuesday 5th December 2006 Lord Leitch published his final report, 'Prosperity for all in the Global Economy: World Class Skills', which examines the UK's long-term skills needs. It sets out ambitious goals for 2020 which, if achieved, would make the UK a world leader in skills. The report recommends and sets out a far-reaching reform agenda.

A special edition of the Today Programme broadcast from the Royal Society (the science academy of the UK) discussed career guidance in relation to science.

The expertise of several career guidance organisations has been brought together to produce the above document.

The sixth meeting of the Connexions Transition Group took place on 27 September 2006 . Representatives attending included Connexions Partnerships (including the National Association - NACP), Local Authorities, Government Offices (GOs), Private Providers, UNISON & DfES.

Rebecca Goodman has taken over Simon Ashby 's role of Communications Manager at the Institute of Career Guidance as of the 6th November 2006 .
