| The QCG, awarded by the Institute of Career Guidance, is available at 15 universities across the UK. The QCG is available as a one-year full time or two year part time course and combines academic study with work based learning which allows you to put into practice in the work place what you have learned at university. Because the course contains significant elements of work based learning and practical skills training there is no distance learning option available.
Generally, you will need to demonstrate that you can cope with postgraduate level study but you need not necessarily have a first degree.
On successful completion of the Qualification in Careers Guidance (QCG), you will be equipped to find employment as a guidance practitioner in the statutory services (the Connexions/Careers Service in England or Wales, Careers Scotland, and the Northern Ireland Careers Service). There are also opportunities in FE/HE careers advisory services, Information, Advice and Guidance services for adults in England, the voluntary sector and a growing private sector. |
