LMI - a Strategic Approach to Supporting the Delivery of Career Guidance. This workshop will demonstrate the important role that LMI plays in the effective delivery of Career Guidance within Careers Scotland and how it supports our customers in developing self-awareness and reaching well-informed career decisions. The workshop will cover information on the research conducted with the University of Glasgow to produce a Strategy for Careers Scotland for strengthening the use of LMI in the Career Guidance process, the outcomes of the research, their implications for Careers Scotland and how we are taking this forward, the resources produced to disseminate the strategy to customer facing staff, the range of resources available to Careers Scotland staff to support them in using LMI in their work with customers, development of Career Scotland's approach to key labour market sectors, with a focus on a pilot to raise the awareness of opportunities available with the renewable energies sector (Green Jobs). The pilot will formulate the development of an overall key sector awareness programme for schools and other stakeholders.
Peter Swan and Kate Hasson are Development Executives with Careers Scotland. Peter has over thirty years' experience of working in careers guidance, both in England and Scotland. His current post is part of Careers Scotland's Key Labour Sector team, and is responsible for sourcing key LMI messages for clients and staff and then making them available in easy to understand formats.
Kate is part of the national Policy and Strategy team in Careers Scotland. She has responsibility for a number of national initiatives and research projects to develop the delivery and personalisation of career guidance services to customers. She has been involved in developing LMI resources for staff and customers including parents. |
