Certification process for QCG or Foundation Degree holders completing the LDDS cluster of units

The Institute is offering certification for those QCG holders who have completed a cluster of units from NVQ 4 in Learning, Development and Support Services.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for a certificate from ICG, the person must have completed the Qualification in Careers Guidance and/or Foundation Degree in Young People and Young People's Services and:

1. Evidenced competence against the following NVQ 4 LDSS units:

· Unit 23 - Promote and maximise educational opportunities and achievements for individual children and young people

· Unit 26 - Ensure personal safety and security

· Unit 28 - Evaluate risk of abuse, failure to protect and harm to self and others

· Unit 31 - Develop and sustain arrangements for joint working between workers and agencies

2. Gained accreditation against the cluster of guidance units in NVQ 4 LDSS:

· Unit 29 - Evaluate and develop own contribution to the service

· Unit 30 - Develop interactions with clients

· Unit 34 - Assist clients to decide on a course of action

· Unit 35 - Assist clients to plan the implementation of a course of action

· Unit 60 - Assist clients to review their achievement of a course of action

These requirements were stipulated by DfES in Action Note CXP 174 Guidance Qualifications issued in September 2004.

Evidence required

ICG holds information regarding the award of the QCG so no further evidence is required for this.

Foundation Degree holders should attach a copy of their certificate to the application form.

The applicant (or their employer) must provide evidence of their competence against units 23, 26, 28 and 31 by providing appropriate documentation e.g. signed statement by their assessor.

A copy of the certificate(s) of unit accreditation issued by the relevant Awarding Body is required as evidence of accreditation for units 29, 30, 34, 35 and 60.

Please complete and return the application form to Sue Holden at the address on the form. There is an administrative charge of £25 per application. Please attach a cheque made payable to the Institute of Career Guidance or give a Purchase Order number.
