Funds will again be available to support students from England to study the Qualification in Career Guidance during the 2007-8 academic year. Funds are available to support at least 100 participants. Funds will be allocated to Connexions Partnerships or those organisations receiving Connexions funding, but only released upon receipt of completed application forms and provision of related evidence on behalf of candidates accepted onto a QCG course.
The aim of the funding is to increase diversity and widen participation among those studying as careers guidance specialists within Connexions Partnerships or those organisations receiving Connexions funding.
Priority will be given to those who face barriers to accessing the QCG and the key groups are:
- Those with disabilities;
- Those from an ethnic background that is under-represented among PAs with a career guidance specialism working in the Connexions Partnership or organisation receiving Connexions funding, compared with the cohort of the Partnership or organisation.;
- Those from non-traditional backgrounds who would provide effective role models for young people
To facilitate planning Connexions Partnerships or those organisations receiving Connexions funding should give provisional indication to the ICG of whether they intend to bid by 12th May, and which course centre they are likely to use. ICG must receive applications from Connexions Partnerships or those organisations receiving Connexions funding by 3rd August 2007. ICG will confirm whether the application has been successful and confirm level of funding with Partnerships or those organisations receiving Connexions funding.
