Vacancies
Research Committee
There are currently 3 vacancies on the Institute's Research Committee.
The Research Committee is a Standing Committee of Council under Article 45 of the Institute's Constitution with the following Role and Responsibilities;
- To ensure that the role of research in professional practice, policy, training and development within the guidance community is actively promoted by the Institute
- To support the development of research theory, policy and practice within the Institute.
- To identify training needs and solutions in the sector and feedback to the Professional Development Manager through the Key Adviser.
- To support members interested in research, so that individuals or organisations can contribute to the Institute's research agenda.
To advise the Institute on responding to requests to be involved in research-related activities
- To advise the Institute on dissemination strategies for relevant research activities both within ICG and outside.
- To assist members in using research evidence to positively promote the benefits of career guidance to policy makers and other stakeholders.
- To work on a pro-active basis with the National Guidance Research Forum and the National Library Resource for Guidance as and when appropriate.
- To be the judging committee for the research category of the Institute's National Career Awards.
- To be the steering committee for the annual John Tunnadine Award, determining eligibility and judging criteria, and identifying an award winner each year.
- To be the steering committee for the periodic publication of members' original research articles, either collectively or individually.
The roles and responsibilities of the Committee require individuals who are:
- Committed to the Institute's research agenda.
- Willing, on a voluntary basis, to take responsibility for developing at least one aspect of the Committee's work.
- Enthusiastic about research and its potential contribution to careers work.
The term of office for members of the Committee is 3 years, with the facility for members to be re-elected for a further term subject to the appropriate nomination/election procedure. Appointment to the Committee shall be at the first meeting following the completion of the nomination/election procedure.
Reasonable expenses for attendance at meetings will be paid.

Re-election of Ethics and Standards Committee Members
The following existing members of Ethics and Standards Committee having met the criteria set out below have re-applied for membership of the Committee;
JOHN HAMILTON ROSALIND HATT MARIAN PENNEY
Criteria:
- five years voting membership of the Institute normally - and continued membership throughout the term of office;
- not a member of Council;
- demonstrable contribution to the ethical practice of career guidance;
- demonstrable commitment to the Constitution of the Institute
In accordance with the Ethics and Standards Committee Bye-Law approved by Ethics and Standards Committee in May 2006 and at AGM 2006, Members are invited to consider the above nominations and submit any objections, with clearly laid out reasons for the objections, in writing to the Honorary Secretary, Institute of Career Guidance, 3rd Floor Copthall House, 1 New Road, Stourbridge, West Midlands, DY8 1PH marked 'Private and Confidential' by MONDAY 4th JUNE 2007 |
