The ICG Research Committee works to promote research in career guidance both within and outside the Institute.
Members include both practitioners from a variety of sectors and regions and University based academics. Key links exist with the National Guidance Research Forum, the National Library Resource for Guidance and Qualification in Career Guidance Centres.
Key Tasks for 2010
- Following the successful launch of Constructing the Future as an online journal in 2009 begin planning for the next publication in 2011.
- To act as judging panel for the research categories of the National Career Awards.
- Support the 2010 conference by running a poster and workshop session.
- Maintain a register of research that has the support of the ICG and ensure wider dissemination to members.
- Continue to develop a partnership approach with other professional research networks such as AGCAS, HESCU and PARN.
Future Activities
- Advocating for high quality research and supporting opportunties for dissemination of practitioner based research
- Developing opportunities for a virtual poster session, so we can support practitioner based research and emerging researchers

- relevance to the guidance field and potentioal to develop our understanding.
