Kathy Mountford

From 1998 Kathy worked as an Employment Adviser for Derbyshire Careers (Connexions) until she qualified as a Careers Adviser in 2000. As a Personal Adviser she worked in inner city schools and communities supporting a range of young people with their career and lifestyle choices.

In 2003 Kathy was employed by Heanor Gate Science College, Derbyshire, an 11-18 school, as their full time Careers and Personal Development Adviser. Responsible for creating and embedding an effective Careers and Work Related learning programme lead to achieving the Career Mark Award in March 2007. Her role is evolving with new initiatives and opportunities available to the students; her work includes group work and 1:1 guidance, development work with Connexions, Pathfinder, Aim Higher and The Education Business Partnership. She represents her school for IAG in the local diploma learning community and has recently been appointed as a Choices Lead Practitioner for the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust to support IAG in the Diploma in the East Midlands.
