Career Guidance in Scotland
The career guidance sector in Scotland is mostly steered by Skills Development Scotland; a non-departmental public body created in 2008. It unites a number of different bodies including; Skills Development Scotland, Scottish University for Industry (learndirect), Skills Intervention arms of Scottish Enterprise and Highlands & Islands Enterprise. SDS plays a vital role in raising employment and careers issues to increase growth in the skills to benefit the economy. Their role is complemented by a thriving private career guidance sector offering a vast range of careers IAG services.

New CIAG Strategy for Scotland
March 2011 The Scottish Government's new Strategy to improve careers services in Scotland has been launched. Career Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) in Scotland - A Framework for Service Redesign and Improvement.
Central to the strategy is the development of more and better career management tools, using new technology to provide personalised career information and guidance where and when it is needed. You can access the strategy here.
