The programme redeveloped the curriculum giving Careers Education and Work Related Learning lessons separate extended tutor time.
Learning for Life has been very successful with students at the school and has a high profile with staff, parents and governors; it has also been recognised as an example of good practice in the local area. Career Education, Information, Advice and Guidance are key ingredients to the programme and are integrated as such. Despite Learning for Life being developed in a relatively short space of time Paula had a clear overall vision for what was needed and worked with the relevant people to build the programme as it gained momentum.
Colin Cole, the Connexions Personal Adviser for the school has stressed the importance of the changes being led by the school 'when Paula was put in the post they had decided to do something about personal learning development.' He goes on to say that in the past year 'destination results have been the best ever recorded at the school. Well over 80% continued in education.' |
