Overview

Career Coaching has exploded on to the guidance scene over the last few years bringing its lovers and sceptics in equal measure. But if pressed, few of us could really articulate what exactly it is and fewer still have a clear sense of how coaching techniques can be used to support our clients. This one day conference will show delegates what career coaching is, and backed up with research based evidence, will give delegates some tools and techniques from the field of coaching that they can incorporate into their practice.

Target audience

Career guidance practitioners working with the whole range of clients, particularly older students and adults. Careers advisers working in the private sector or hoping to move into the private sector may find the debate and workshops particularly useful.

Learning outcomes

The day will help participants:

Clarify the differences between guidance and coaching
Gain some critical understanding of the research and evidence around the effectiveness of coaching
Understand some of the key coaching approaches and how they can be used within a careers context
Learn some coaching techniques that can be used within careers practice to help support clients
