NATIONAL CAREERS WEEK 2012
Promoting Careers Guidance When It Is Needed Most
Damaging budget cuts across education and to the Connexions careers service has left careers guidance in extreme uncertainty, without any funding or support at a time when it is perhaps needed more than ever. In the face of this a collection of careers advisers and private organisations have joined together through social networks and grass roots initiatives to offer hope to the profession and provision of careers education in the UK.
Later this year National Careers Week 2012 will offer careers professionals the chance to focus their efforts in providing urgent guidance to a "forgotten" generation of young people and raise awareness of the importance of careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG).
National Careers Week is a celebration of careers education, information, advice and guidance. From 5th - 9th March 2012, careers advisers up and down the country will run special career workshops and activities in cooperation with local businesses, parents and teachers.
Through social networks and nationalcareersweek.com there is a focus to share quality free careers resources and support students making important decisions about their futures during times of uncertainty.
More careers activities and resources will be coordinated and shared during this week than ever before. Already over 600 careers professionals have signed up to @careersweek on Twitter and a further 1,500 advisers have registered their support NCW on nationalcareersweek.com.
On the website is the official NCW poster to download, links to over 30 free online quality careers resources and a registration form. Registering with nationalcareersweek.com keeps stakeholders updated on developments including daily updates during the week courtesy of Careersbox. There will also be a national careers event at Wembley Stadium hosted by the Institute of Career Guidance and a prize of 100 hours of in-school enterprise workshops from Enterprise Lab.
National Careers Week 2012 runs from 5th - 9th March. For further information visit www.nationalcareersweek.com or email . |
