CSV (Community Service Volunteers), the UK's leading volunteering and training charity, is launching a new website to improve its on-line presence for new and existing volunteers and partners: www.csv.org.uk
The site's structure and navigation is user-focused, clearly presenting the many and diverse opportunities available at CSV. Visitors can straightforwardly access volunteering and training opportunities to suit their interests and needs, and get in touch.
More than half the nation volunteers and visitors to CSV's new look site can find out about projects that improve literacy for children, break isolation for older people, improve the environment where they live and help to reduce crime. Last year 167,064 people gave their time as volunteers through CSV. The charity trained 12,196 people of all ages
Via an interactive Google map visitors can search over 300 of CSV's volunteering projects and training centres across the UK, as well as CSV's Action Network at BBC Local Radio. Each project's location, basic information and contact details are clearly listed to enable new volunteers and partners to find relevant opportunities.
The site features personal stories from CSV volunteers, trainees and beneficiaries in the form of case studies and video streams - also available via CSV's new You Tube channel. Online polling, content sharing, social bookmarking and syndicated content feeds further enhance the user experience and the dialogue between CSV and its audiences. Currently the site features films from a recent BBC Video Nation season showcasing the achievements of the UK's young volunteers and a poll to find the Nation's views on service learning in education.
Users of the site can sign up to comment and register their interests and will receive email updates as the site's development continues. A new online shop is due to launch in the New Year allowing visitors to book places on CSV conferences & training courses, and also purchase training materials & resources securely.
The press release archive and RSS feed keep visitors informed of the charity's media activity and research.
