ICG respond to consultation on new standards for aspects of the PHSE curriculum

 6 May 2008

The ICG responded to the recent consultation on proposed standards for a national CPD programme for staff responsible in schools for delivering the Economic Wellbeing and Financial Capability aspects of the PSHE curriculum.

In our response we drew attention to our concerns at career education being perceived as a subset of Economic Well being and Financial Capability rather that the other way around. We have also pointed out the findings of the recent Skills Commission report on the need for an immediate review of CPD arrangements for career education and guidance specialists.

The ICG will continue to work with colleagues in the PSHE Association and others to raise the profile of career education and to seek a stronger position for the ICG in policy developments.
