Edge, an education charity that campaign for the promotion of vocational education, wants to test whether careers advice for young people in England is of a high enough standard.
It is launched to coincide with the final evidence gathering session of the Skills Commission Inquiry into Information, Advice & Guidance (IAG). Independent researchers, on behalf of Edge, will contact organisations such as Connexions and learndirect.
Jonathon Bramsdon, Partnership Director of Edge, has said 'The mystery shopping will help enable us to assess current advice and guidance and in the future ensure that all people are receiving the best possible information.'
A poll commissioned last year by recruitment consultancy Harvey Nash found that almost half of young people surveyed thought that school careers advice was confusing and unhelpful.
The results of mystery shopping will be released in 1 April 2008 .
