New ICG Vice President welcomes Skills body in Scotland

 12 Nov 2007

Vivienne Brown, new ICG Vice President and Head of Policy and Strategy at Careers Scotland welcomes the new Skills body.

"We are all looking forward to the new opportunities which the new skills body can create for the people of Scotland. Placing career guidance and development services at the heart of the new body will bring a fresh approach.

There is much to be achieved by the new skills body - Scotland has relatively well qualified people but still has relatively low levels of productivity and this affects the growth and wealth of the country. Bringing together the opportunities for career development with better information about learning and training provision will enable individuals to optimise the opportunities within Scotland and encourage increased mobility into and within the labour market through lifelong learning and training. This will mean career guidance practitioners will be central to the success of the new skills body and this is to be welcomed."
