Calls for a dedicated minister for children and young people in Wales

 17 May 2007

The Office of the Children's Commissioner for Wales called for the dedicated minister following the Welsh Assembly Elections in May. Discussions over the formation of the Government in Wales are ongoing. With posts in the cabinet and ministerial positions still available the Office of the Children's Commissioner for Wales would like to see young people at the centre of government policy. Maria Battle, acting children's commissioner has said that a minister for children with a cross-cutting portfolio would 'lead to the better co-ordination of priorities and targets.'
