Learning and Skills Council IAG Conference in Brighton

 19 Mar 2007

At the national LSC IAG conference in Brighton, Jon Gamble, LSC Director for Adults and Lifelong Learning announced some details for the 07/08 contract (August 07 to July 08).

1. They will be re-contracting and not re-tendering

2. The 40% cap on contract holders to deliver will be raised to a max of 60%

3. The target group will include pre level 3 learners, as well as the pre-level 2 as present

4. The contract values will be maintained.

The full specification should be out fairly soon.

The plans for the new Adult Careers service are being worked on and some details are hoped for later this year. There will be a campaign - the Big Skills Campaign - to build individual demand and make the market for learning. They will be looking for new and innovative ways of delivering and getting a coherent brand. Also ensuring positive outcomes, reaching more in the 50+ group and maintaining quality.
