Meeting with John Hayes, Shadow Minister for Vocational Education

 7 Feb 2007

Continuing the regular contacts the ICG has with Opposition parties, Kieran Gordon met recently with John Hayes, one of the Conservative Shadow Education and Skills team. A wide range of issues relating to skills and guidance were covered including the 14-19 and adult and workforce agendas.

The Conservatives are pledging an all age career guidance service and ICG agreed on much that was to be said about this. John Hayes asked questions about Connexions and the state of career guidance; Kieran Gordon indicated that much could be done to strengthen the line from Westminster on career guidance in the Every Child Matters and Skills agendas.
