The Institute of Career Guidance welcomes the Leitch Review's recommendations about the career guidance service and employment skills.
Kieran Gordon, President of the Institute of Career Guidance , expressed his support for Lord Leitch's report:
"The ICG believes the report gives prominence to a vital challenge facing the UK 's economy and society by emphasising the skills challenge and its focus on a stronger economy and the achievement of social justice. The report confirms the important part that independent careers advice and guidance plays in achieving these goals and recognises that this should be a universal right for young people and adults. Most important will be the way policy is shaped to take account of the need for a seamless transition from education to employment as people build their careers. We hope that Government will be able to respond to these issues and recognise the reality of interlocking phases of transition from age 14 to mid 20s, rather than be constrained by the prevailing policy paradigm."
