The issue of career guidance is raised on BBC Radio 4's Today Programme

 1 Dec 2006

A special edition of the Today Programme broadcast from the Royal Society (the science academy of the UK) discussed career guidance in relation to science.

The programme broadcast on the 30th November 2006 featured a report about a Government initiative to increase the number of people with a career in science, engineering, technology and mathematics.

Daniel Sandford-Smith from the Institute of Physics suggested that 'better career advice is needed' as a science degree can open up a wealth of opportunities. A message that he says is not being 'filtered through' to pupils at school and in further education.
