New legislation against age discrimination in employment and training

 10 Nov 2006

From the 1st October 2006, Employment Equality (Age) Regulations made it unlawful to discriminate against employees, jobseekers and trainees because of their age.

Not only will the new regulations affect those already in work it will also impact upon those applying for training courses. Providers of training courses can no longer set age-limits or age-related criteria for those wishing to gain entry. Employers and course providers will no longer be able to make decisions a person merely depending on their age. The regulations should also cover access to help and guidance, the recruitment process, and employee development.
