The Scottish Executive's consultation on proposed changes to Careers Scotland included a number of focus groups with organisations invited to take part in the consultation process. The Institute of Career Guidance was invited to meet with representatives of Scottish Executive on Monday 21 August 2006.
Council Representative Mairi Brown attended on behalf of ICG accompanied by members Jo Noblett and Christine McPherson. Scottish Executive's aims were to explain the demerger decision and the consultation process and to get early indications of preferences and potential issues they could expect to receive in formal responses.
The meeting provided ICG the opportunity to raise and seek clarification on a number of issues based on the feedback already received from members. In addition Scottish Executive took great interest in the discussion of the importance of guidance to the economy generally and our views on Careers Scotland within the Scottish Guidance Community in particular. I feel also that Scottish Executive left with a greater understanding of the role of the ICG and having given copies of our Code of Ethics they requested our website address in order to further enhance their understanding. A very interesting and worthwhile meeting. |
