ICG supporting development of new 14-19 Diplomas

 14 Feb 2006

The ICG has recommended Gordon Kirk, a member of council to join the working group developing the new IT Diploma. Under development by 'e-skills UK', the sector skills council for IT, Telecoms and Contact Centres, the Diploma will be available in pilot form from 2008 alongside 4 other sector related Diplomas.

14 Diplomas in all should be available by 2010. Diplomas will be a significant KS4 and post 16 option, offering achievement at levels 2 and 3 and progression into HE. While stretching the most able, they will give all students a real alternative to traditional learning styles by offering a high quality blend of general education and applied work-related learning. 'e-skills UK' are not the only sector skills council to recognise the importance of career guidance and labour market information to the success and progression of Diploma students.
