The Institute recently wrote to the Prime Minister to bring to his attention to some key points regarding the future of Careers Education and Guidance.
The letter stated commented on the importance of career guidance to all citizens and drew attention to the 2004 EU Resolution signed by the UK Government. Attention was also drawn to the differing models of policy and operation emerging in the UK .
Finally, the ICG offered support to the Government in developing career guidance services for citizens in order to promote social and economic benefits to all.
In their response, Downing Street said the contents of our letter will be carefully noted and have been forwarded to the Department for Education and Skills for their consideration.
Tomorrow, the Institute, through President Dr Rachel Mulvey and Executive Director Chris Evans will meet with representatives of Shadow Education Team members from the Liberal Democrats and the Conservative Party.
One of the ICG aims approved at their Annual General Meeting was to 'Raise awareness of and promote the benefits of Career Guidance' and this meeting with senior parliamentary officials plays a pivotal role in this.
ICG will meet initially with Conservative Minister for Vocational Education, John Hayes MP who is a key member of their Shadow team and is primarily responsible for CEG.
Following this, they will meet with Ed Davey MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Secretary of State for Education and Skills.
Members will be informed of the outcomes of these meetings in the coming weeks. |
